Stepping into one of Interior Illusions' four design showrooms in Southern California will engage your senses in a way they’ve never been titillated before. They will begin to stir when Interior Illusions' collection greets you with its seductive feel and provocative designs. Their distinct style and feel is compatible with everybody’s taste because of Interior Illusion’s team of professional designers, who know exactly how to understand your needs. And at the heart of it all is Michael Valles, CEO of Interior Illusions.
Chic, sexy and sophisticated are words that the showroom’s style embodies, which are filled with rich textiles, exotic surfaces, and unique designs of modern collections. Finding inspiration from international shores, art, and cultures, Valles infuses it into Interior Illusions’ dynamic spaces. “Marcel Wander is probably my biggest influence today, as far as other designers,” Valles adds. “I love the theatrical aspect and avant-garde design aesthetic he has to his approach.”
As a Fresno, CA native, the first Interior Illusions was built from a joint venture between he and his mother, an interior designer, too. "My mom, Lottie Valles, always had me around when she was working on projects, and I always enjoyed the aspects of the field. We, together, opened the first shop in Fresno, and that dream has only grown in the years since."
In 2003, he decided to move to L.A. where he's currently at the top of the list for some impressive celebrity clientele, including Russell Brand, Megan Fox and Zac Efron. Thus far in his design career, Valles' best project to date has been his own home. "I had full reign of the design aesthetic, without any restrictions, so it's 100% my design aesthetic." Hoping to one day get his hands on a casino design project, Valles is currently working on a new boutique hotel in Las Vegas, as well as a private residence on the infamous Mulholland Drive. "The views are amazing, and I'm looking forward to capturing the essential Southern California outdoor/indoor lifestyle."
Three Design Tips from Michael Valles:
1. Accents in metallics are great for a little flash!
2. Always use a touch of organic or found elements since this really helps to ground modern decor.
3. Texture...it's so important to layer textures!
