MyStudio : Hollywood

The charisma of the 70s is back in all its glory thanks to David Judaken and Tony Daly, the team that brought you L.A clubbing hot spots MyHouse, Opera, East, and Crimson through their company Syndicate Hospitality Group. Instead of the quick fix, and sometimes lack luster quality décor that is sometimes seen in the Hollywood club scene, Judaken and Daly opted for a more high quality, modern and fashion forward sleek look utilizing only the best materials.
Judaken says the interior was inspired by a “1970s bachelor pad in New York where a photographer slash artist has an impromptu photo shoot.”
Plush black leather couches, charcoal marble counter tops and the black and gold color schemes set the scene while the grand piano, large bookshelves of art and photography books bring this character and his home to life. Judaken and Daly collaborated with West Hollywood based company G Plus Design to develop the idea.
Judaken explains he wanted the lounge to look “ homey with characteristics of a studio.”
“For me, this alter-ego exists. He lives, he walks, and he sings late at night at the piano”, says the entrepreneur, who marks instrument along with the custom chandeliers as his favorite features.
Daly, Judaken’s business partner and protégé, claims the island bar , the centerpiece of the space as his favorite feature.
“It adds a social dynamic to the bar. Customers see each other across the way, bartenders are making shots. We have very animated bartenders,” he says. “(The bar) adds excitement to an otherwise stagnant part of the club.”
Customer interaction is an obvious concern to Daly, as he oversees “crowd control” and the social aspect of the club business he’s developed with Judaken.
“He (Judaken) relies on my expert opinion on how people are partying these days,” explains Daly, adding his penned phrase, “If you build it, I’ll fill it.”
Judaken elaborates on their respective roles in the partnership. “ Tony’s in the trenches at night- he is taking care of people, making sure the operation is fluid and meeting guests expectations. I’m generally doing a lot of design work; working with the in-house construction company and doing a lot behind -the- scenes work.”
The pair, who have enjoyed successes with Hollywood hot spots like MyHouse and Opera can now add the uber chic MyStudio to their list, concreting them as the largest nightclub owners in Hollywood. This January the duo’s latest club opened to rave reviews. It is called Eden, and MH+L has been assured that it provides a hedonistic mix of superb design and engineering.
The atypical concept combined with the duo’s business skills is a proven recipe for success as the Hollywood elite have frequented the eclectic space.
The success of the MyStudio and their other endeavors including Velvet Rope Events, the company’s catering and events arm is just a taste of what’s to come from this dynamic duo who are currently enjoying the success of Eden. With their flair for design and crowd pleasing abilities these two will be entertaining us for a while.
